The GW MFA Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine provides medical evaluation prior to surgery, provides ongoing consultation with the surgical team, provides pain control and support of life functions during surgery, supervises care immediately following surgery, and medically discharges the patient from the recovery unit.
The expertise of our Anesthesiology Team is unequaled in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Our physicians provide a wide range of anesthesia services from basic inpatient and outpatient services, to the subspecialties of cardiac, obstetrical, ambulatory and neurosurgical anesthesia, in addition to acute and chronic pain management. Our Critical Care team contributes to the overall continuity of care for patients who require the expertise of the intensivist.
