Anesthesia for advanced cases in the General Surgery operating rooms is an elective rotation for CA-3 residents in anesthesiology at George Washington University Hospital. It consists of 1-month blocks in the main suite of 14 operating rooms on the 2nd floor of George Washington University Hospital. Additionally, Advanced Clinical rotations are assigned in NORA, Vascular, Thoracic, and Choice months that allow senior trainees to subspecialize and obtain skills in areas that they have particular interest in exploring at an advanced level.
In total, residents administer over 12,000 anesthetics annually, consisting mainly of laparoscopic, urologic, gynecologic, breast, plastic, otolaryngology, orthopedic, and interventional cardiac and radiologic cases.
